*HEALTH BENEFITS*

1. Fights Cancer
Today, most people are affected by cancer in one way or another. Chances are you know someone who is battling cancer or you may be fighting it yourself. If that’s the case, add ginger into your daily diet. Several studies have found it
beneficial in fighting lung, prostate, ovarian, colon, breast, skin, and pancreatic cancers.
According to researchers, ginger’s anti-cancer properties are a result of the compound 6-gingerol, which is found in large amounts in raw ginger. 6-gingerol has anti-bacterial, anti-
inflammatory and anti-tumor activities.
Adding ginger to your diet can help prevent new cancer cells from forming and destroy active ones. It’s also beneficial for people who are already on cancer treatments since ginger has been known to prevent the toxic effects of cancer drugs.
In a study with 744 cancer patients, ginger supplementation significantly reduced chemotherapy-induced nausea.

2. Protects Against Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects the central nervous system. It accounts for nearly 60–70 percent of dementia cases in people over
65 years old worldwide. If Alzheimer’s runs in your family or you are worried you may one day suffer from the disease, you should think about incorporating more ginger into your
current diet and daily routine.
Research shows ginger can help slow down the loss of brain cells, which typically leads to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Additionally, some studies done on animals suggest the
antioxidants and other powerful compounds found in ginger
can fight inflammatory responses that occur in the brain.

3.Digestion
 Helps with Irritable Bowel Syndrome
IBS is a common disorder that affects nearly 25-45 million Americans. Some symptoms include cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, and mucus in the stool. People who suffer from painful IBS will be happy to hear ginger can offer
some relief. That’s because ginger can help relax the intestines during a flair up.
There are several ways you can consume ginger – add ginger root in your cooked dishes, take ginger supplements, or brew ginger tea. The good news is they all seem to have a calming effect on the digestive system.

4. Relieves Heartburn
Studies show certain heartburn drugs do more harm than good. Instead of turning to drugs,
drink ginger tea.
According to doctors, ginger has been found to have a gastroprotective effect, meaning it prevents the loosening of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) and blocks acid from
regurgitating back into the esophagus. It also kills off harmful bacteria, such as helicobacter pylori.

5.Weight Loss
 Aids Weight Loss
Losing weight is one of the best things you can do for your overall health. Did you know being overweight can lead to heart attack, stroke, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and some cancers? To help aid your weight loss efforts, incorporate ginger into your diet.
Ginger is a natural ingredient that’s found in many “fat-burning” supplements. It can speed up the metabolism, leading to calorie-burning. It can also help keep you feeling full for longer, reducing your overall calorie intake.
.
6. Helps Manage Blood Sugar Levels
Research out of Australia suggests that ginger can help keep blood glucose levels in check. This is important because these levels have a direct impact on weight loss and weight gain, as well as how energetic or lethargic you feel throughout the day. If you’ve noticed that you’re feeling a
mid-day crash it’s likely due to your blood sugar levels.
7. Relieves Tired Muscles
When you workout, your muscles naturally get tired. One way to help speed up muscle recovery is to munch on ginger root. Studies have shown people who eat ginger experience a significant reduction in muscle pain, allowing people to get
back to the gym in a shorter amount of time. More workouts lead to increased lean muscle mass, which generally equates to natural weight loss as you burn calories around the clock.

8. Boosts Nutrient Absorption
You probably don’t realize, but when you eat a healthy meal you aren’t actually absorbing all of the beneficial nutrients.
Rather, people only absorb anywhere between 10-90 percent of the vitamins and minerals in their food. If you are
looking to improve your health and lose weight, you’ll want to absorb as many nutrients as possible. That’s because
nutrients can signal your hormones to let the body know when it’s full and keep your fat-burning system working in tip-top shape. Ginger has been known to boost nutrient
absorption!

9. Helps with Morning Sickness
Pregnant women might want to increase their ginger intake
if they are suffering from bouts of morning sickness. That’s
because the ginger acts as a calming agent. When compared
to a placebo in clinical tests, participants who consumed
ginger noticed significant symptom relief.

10. Reduces Arthritic Inflammation
Ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. For thatreason, it can help relieve a host of inflammation-based conditions and diseases. That includes arthritis, a condition that affects millions of Americans. Along with reducing inflammation, people with arthritis can expect some pain
relief from the ginger.

11. Opens Up Inflamed Airways
If you have asthma you have likely been scouring the internet for ways to help open up your airways (ones that don’t involve taking steroid-based medications). Ginger has been shown to open up airways by reducing inflammation. It can also relieve pain associated with asthma. While
researchers say ginger may not solve your asthma condition on its own, it can definitely be used as part of a comprehensive approach.

12. Improves Circulation
Ginger can help thin blood, improving overall circulation. As ginger improves blood flow, it can generate a warm feeling inside the body. That’s one reason many people enjoy sipping ginger tea on cold days.

WAYS OF TAKING GINGER

1. GINGER AS SPICE.
Ginger can be crushed and added to food to improve the taste
2. GINGER TEA:
Active ingredients in ginger can be extracted by boiling sliced ginger and filtering to get only ginger water. Add honey and or lemon and drink.

3.GINGER JUICE.
it can be used in making juice like the one we generally call ZOBO

4. GINGER CAN BE CHEWED RAW.

Which ever way that goes well for u,adopt it.

Thank YOU and stay healthy.

*It belongs to the Liliaceae family (Liliaceae)*

health they say is wealth, fasten ur seat belt, relax and journey with me as I bring to ur notice, the health benefits of garlic. After reading this,u will have no reason to neglect  garlic again

Garlic is an annual herb native to Central Asia but its widespread use as a condiment and medicinal properties, is cultivated in almost all continents.
The parts used are garlic bulbs that contain a wide variety of active ingredients with
medicinal properties that stand out in the plant kingdom.
The systems in which the garlic active ingredients provide its benefits are the cardiovascular, respiratory, genito urinary tract, digestive, hematopoietic, skin and mucous membranes.
There are a number of pharmaceutical preparations with garlic , but its most widespread use is the ingestion of a clove of garlic with a glass of orange juice in the early hours of the morning to fight the aches of osteoarthritis and arthritis.
Garlic is a fundamental component in many or most dishes of various regions, including eastern Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, northern Africa, southern Europe , and parts of South and Central America. The flavor varies in intensity and aroma with the different cooking methods. It is often paired with onion , tomato , or
ginger . The parchment-like skin is much like the skin of an onion, and is typically removed before using in raw or cooked form.

*HEALTH BENEFITS OF GARLIC*

More recent research has identified additional sulfur-containing compounds that are responsible for garlic's star status as a health-supporting food. These sulfur compounds include 1,2-vinyldithiin (1,2-DT), and thiacremonone. The hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) that can be made from garlic's sulfides has also been the subject of great research interest. When produced and released from our red blood cells, this H2S gas can help dilate our blood vessels and help keep our blood pressure under control.

*HEART DISEASE*

One of the main causes of heart disease is the buildup of plaque on the walls of the blood vessels. This plaque is mostly made up of
cholesterol and other fatty substances found in the blood. When large amounts of plaque get stuck on artery walls, they block the flow of blood and cause blood clots to form. Parts of the artery wall may even be destroyed completely.
In arteriosclerosis, otherwise known as "hardening of the arteries," the major arteries may become so stiff and clogged, that the heart cannot get necessary nutrients and oxygen. This usually causes a heart attack . High serum cholesterol levels are a major risk factor for having a heart attack.
Most of the research on garlic and our cardiovascular  has been conducted on garlic powder, garlic oil, or aged garlic extracts rather than garlic in food form. But despite this research limitation, food studies on garlic show this allium vegetable to have important cardioprotective properties. Garlic is clearly able to lower our blood triglycerides and total cholesterol, even though this reduction can be moderate (5-15%).
Some people with high cholesterol have been able to get within normal levels by eating 1–2 cloves per day.

*Hypertension*
Hypertension , or high blood pressure, is also a significant cause of heart problems. It is one of the leading causes of disability and death due to
stroke , heart attack, heart failure, and kidney failure. Garlic can help reduce blood pressure through the actions of its sulfur compounds and its ability to reduce the fatty substances, such as cholesterol, found in the bloodstream. Use of garlic also can help normalize low blood pressure.
*CANCER*

Studies have found that garlic blocks the formation of powerful carcinogens, called nitrosamines, which may be formed during the digestion of food. This may be why in populations where people consume a large amount of garlic, there is a decreased incidence of all types of cancer. The antioxidants found in garlic may also contribute to this effect by protecting against the cell damage by cancer-causing free radicals. Studies show that use of garlic may also inhibit the growth of a variety of tumors. However, cancer-related studies are not conclusive and relate to consumption of raw or cooked garlic, not garlic supplements.

*DIABETES*

Garlic has the ability to lower and help keep blood sugar stable by helping to increase the amount of insulin available in the bloodstream. This action, together with garlic's ability to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, make it an excellent daily supplement for people with diabetes. A 2003 report showed that long-term use of garlic helped improve the blood vessel systems of diabetic rats.
*Eating Garlic Can Help Detoxify Heavy Metals in the Body*

At high doses, the sulfur compounds in garlic have been shown to protect against organ damage from heavy metal toxicity.
A four week study in employees of a car battery plant (excessive exposure to lead) found that garlic reduced lead levels in the blood by 19%. It also reduced many clinical signs of toxicity, including headaches and blood pressure (22 ).
Three doses of garlic each day even outperformed the drug D-penicillamine in symptom reduction.

*Other health conditions*

Garlic is effective in the treatment of numerous other conditions. For example:

1. The consumption of 1–3 cloves per day is useful for immune support and as a preventive against diseases and infection.

2. Garlic can be used to treat respiratory complaints such as
asthma and chronic bronchitis .

3. Garlic helps increase the body's ability to handle the digestion of meat and fats.

4. Garlic can be used to help kill and expel intestinal worms in both animals and humans.

5. When added to a pet's food, garlic helps repel fleas.

6. Garlic is helpful in getting rid of athlete's foot.

7. Garlic relieves gas and other stomach complaints.

8. The sulfur compounds found in garlic can bind to heavy metals and other toxins and help remove them from the body.

9. Garlic can be used externally for cuts, wounds, and skin eruptions.

*The BEST Ways to Eat Raw Garlic*
Garlic Pills: Simply chop a clove up into small pill sized shapes, and swallow with a drink of your choice. I usually only do half a clove at a time. Since raw garlic can be a little tough on the stomach, I use a smaller amount and work up if needed.
Tip: Choosing a drink with fat in it will help blunt the flavor. A thick smoothie, milkshake, or kefir consistency makes it a lot easier to get pills down.
